This Unlikely 2016 Candidate Just Earned Lindsey Graham’s Official Endorsement

Since dropping out of the 2016 race, Lindsey Graham has kept it a mystery as to which candidate he would throw his support behind. However, this morning, Fox & Friends gave the world an answer to that very question.

“Lindsey Graham is probably the most knowledgable person on the Hill as it comes to foreign policy… I’m excited about it.” Bush said, speaking to Fox’s cameras.

According to the newest national polls from Real Clear Politics, Jeb Bush is currently in fifth place in the GOP race for the nomination, firmly behind Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, and Ben Carson.

The South Carolina Senator has a good track record of endorsing eventual winners, declaring his support for Arizona Senator John McCain early in the 2008 contest. McCain proceeded to win his party’s nomination, though time will tell if Bush is able to replicate McCain’s success in the 2016 campaign.

UPDATE – 10:30 A.M. EST Graham appeared with Bush at a press event in South Carolina, where he confirmed that his support was going to the Florida governor. In between throwing barbs at Donald Trump for his controversial positions, Graham expressed admiration for Bush’s debate performance last night, complimented his proposals, and said he was experienced enough to take on the job.

After Graham was finished, Bush thanked him for his support and political service and launched into his talking points.
