Nobody seems to be happier than Ann Coulter that the Birther controversy is over, because now she can get attention for criticizing President Obama on issues that are actually important. Coulter usually known for her outrageous statements that some don’t consider to be serious, asks a question that would likely find much liberal support: “what on Earth are we [still] doing in Afghanistan?”

Rachel Maddow walked something of a fine line on her show tonight, balancing covering birtherism (“Reporting on spending press time covering ‘birtherism’ itself, I think is a defensible thing.”) and lending even more coverage and attention to Donald Trump and the headline (and ratings?)-grabbing birther movement. Maddow set out to figure out why (non-Fox News) journalists would devote time to covering the whereabouts of Barack Obama‘s birth certificate

Last night the cable newsers were still trying to make sense of yesterday’s Presidential press conference in which Barack Obama succumbed to pressure to somehow prove that he was born in the U.S. But in the southern states of this country, a real story was unfolding, one that included well over 100 fatalities, nuclear power plants brought offline and decimated cities and towns.

Daily Show host Jon Stewart had a field day with the circus surrounding the White House’s presentation of President Barack Obama‘s long-form birth certificate and Donald Trump‘s subsequent… helicoptering.

Ann Coulter made an appearance on The O’Reilly Factor this evening to lend her voice to the discussion of today’s big media story: “The birth certificate thing.” Host Bill O’Reilly asked Coulter whether she could put the issue in “any kind of context that matters.” Well, said Coulter, “we were right, they were wrong,” meaning that the conservative establishment has long been denouncing the “birther” movement as a distraction and a non-issue. So, then, who’s to blame for this movement blossoming under the watchful gaze of so many television sets?

We’ve been closely following MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell‘s coverage of Donald Trump and the would-be Republican candidate (or not, if you’re inclined to agree with O’Donnell’s assessment of the situation) and we were keen on seeing what he’d have to say about Trump tonight in the wake of the White House’s presentation of Barack Obama‘s birth certificate. And O’Donnell did not disappoint.

Birther or not, many people who knew President Obama was born in Hawaii were still a little curious why Obama waited this long to end the craziness surrounding rampant speculation about his birth certificate. Today, Obama’s friend Oprah Winfrey raised that question, asking the President “why did you wait so long” to release the birth certificate?

Shepard Smith weighed in on the latest developments in the ongoing birth certificate saga and demanded to know from Birthers, “are you happy now?” Shep wasn’t proud with the media and especially had a tough, disapproving tone of Donald Trump‘s role in the whole ordeal.

Douglas Brinkley, the presidential historian, said on CNN today that the distraction of birtherism–a “ghastly scenario over the last month” he called it–is not the fault of the media, but of Donald Trump. But Brinkley took it a step further, saying “we don’t have to blame Republican Party, they’ve been quite responsible, Republican National Committee, we don’t have to blame the media for dealing with this issue. We have to blame NBC Entertainment. They need to dump Trump from his primetime news show. He’s a poison toad on the airwaves.”

Brinkley questioned advertisers who would support Trump’s The Apprentice, saying consumer boycotts could follow in light of the lack of substance in Trump’s birther accusations. “If you’re going to do what Trump did and go after the President of the United States in such a grotesque and disingenuous way, then you’d better cough up the goods. Today, the Obama Administration has shown what a charlatan Donald Trump really is.”

The day that some thought would never arrive and many others could care less about is finally here. President Obama released his long-form birth certificate. However, since Donald Trump truly thought this day would never come, now that it has, one of his “promises” may soon start to haunt him.

With this morning’s shocking revelation by the White House of the long form birth certificate confirming that President Barack Obama was in fact born in Hawaii (gasp!), Fox News turned first for political reaction to House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (gasp!) for his thoughts on this historic day when the entire nation can rejoice and celebrate the legitimacy of our president (hooray!) However, Mr. Cantor chose not to see this day as one to celebrate, rather, he shockingly took the view that President Obama should not be wasting the nation’s time on such a silly non-issue (gasp!)

In the media equivalent of the fabled “Day the Music Died,” President Obama ended the Birther narrative as a major news story by releasing his long-form birth certificate Wednesday morning. In remarks to reporters in the White House briefing room. the President explained that the issue had become too large a distraction, and obliquely dismissed undeclared Republican frontrunner Donald Trump as a “carnival barker.”

None other than presumptive GOP presidential front runner Donald Trump, who has made this a tiny bit of an issue in the last few weeks. The White House has announced plans for President Barack Obama to will deliver a statement later this morning in the Brady Press briefing room surrounding the controversy of his birth certificate. The debate over whether it is legitimate to question President Obama about his birth certificate and his academic records spilled over into Hardball today as Chris Matthews and Pat Buchanan hurled humorous insults at one another during a heated debate. Well there it is. The most respected newscaster at the most watched and dominant cable news network has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Barack Obama‘s citizenship (and legitimacy as president of the United States) and has found for the president. “Fox News can confirm the president of the United States is a citizen of the United States,” said Fox News Shep Smith, adding for dramatic effect, “Period.” Next!

Donald Trump may have only landed on the 2012 presidential radar about two months ago (much to everyone’s chagrin), but in those two months he has done what no birther had yet attempted: he has found evidence that President Barack Obama‘s birth certificate doesn’t exist. That’s his latest headline-grabbing claim, anyway, in an extensive conversation aired tonight on CNN with Anderson Cooper. Needless to say, the latter is somewhat skeptical.

Yesterday Reverend Franklin Graham appeared on This Week with Christiane Amanpour and commented that President Obama “has some issues to deal with” in order to prove the legitimacy of his American citizenship. He also hinted having doubts about Obama’s religious devotion, suggesting a church membership alone “doesn’t make you a Christian.” Today, the White House responded.

Potential Republican candidate for President Donald Trump made his weekly appearance on Fox & Friends this morning and although he continued demanding to see President Obama’s birth certificate, he actually liked the President’s initiative to investigate oil companies over high gas prices. Yet Trump wanted to know why isn’t Obama talking about OPEC? This time around though, Trump’s wittiest insults were saved for Oscar winner Robert De Niro, who slammed Trump over the weekend and may refrain from doing so again after hearing Trump’s comeback.

If one needs any further proof of just how much Donald Trump gets under Lawrence O’Donnell‘s skin, look no further than a segment where O’Donnell praises Karl Rove and Michele Bachmann, and claims he has no idea who Bret Michaels is. O’Donnell delivered his latest anti-Trump screed tonight in response to news that Jerry Seinfeld refuses to do charity events with Trump, and encouraged all “decent” people to do the same.

Some may have declared the issue with President Obama’s birth certificate to be “over,” but apparently potential Republican candidate for President Donald Trump didn’t receive the memo. He called into Fox News today and revealed that in his mind at least, “I think I’ve made my decision,” as he prepares multiple visits to the primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann appeared on GMA this morning to talk about her solutions for fixing the nation’s economic problems. However, when the topic of conversation turned to her potential rival for the Republican presidential nomination, Donald Trump, things certainly got interesting.

Nearly half of usual Republican primary voters in Iowa think President Obama was not born in the United States, while barely one-quarter believe he was, according to a PPP poll released on Tuesday.

In the poll, 48% of registered Republican voters said Obama was not born in the U.S., while 26% said he was. Additionally, 26% said they were unsure.

CNN host Eliot Spitzer interviewed a panel of business experts who attempted to estimate Donald Trump‘s net worth, which they admitted was difficult since his company is private and given that many casinos and buildings bearing his name are no longer entirely owned by him. Spitzer weighed in with a compliment, a challenge and what ultimately seemed like an invitation for Trump to continue his media tour to Spitzer’s show.
