Twitter Buries Flynn For Pleading Guilty in Russia Probe: ‘This Is So, So Rich’
Former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn is having a tough day. It was just revealed that he’s pleading guilty to one count of lying to the FBI, which could be a sign that he is turning against President Donald Trump to cooperate with Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.
More specifically, Flynn has been accused of “willfully and knowingly” making “false, fictitious and fraudulent statements” to federal investigators. He plead guilty in court on Friday.
Even more shocking? It has been reported that he will testify that Trump actually directed him to contact Russia during the campaign, blowing this story wide open.
This would be big news if it were any political figure, but the fact that it is the same guy who so enthusiastically chanted “lock her up,” while speaking about Hillary Clinton, at last year’s Republican National Convention makes it extra spicy.
This is the “good guy” who Trump fired James Comey over, after the former FBI Director refused a stay of prosecution. This is the guy who, as recently as May 2017, Trump wanted back in the White House, with the president hoping that the FBI’s investigation would soon end in his favor.
Well, it didn’t quite work out for Flynn and Trump, and folks on Twitter have not been shy to let them know. They’ve gone all-in on the Flynn-bashing this morning, perhaps with good reason.
