3 Awkward Things Brian Williams Will Probably Have to Say at MSNBC

brian williams al sharpton msnbcSee the image to the left? That’s obviously a Photoshop, but now that Brian Williams is heading back to MSNBC, there’s a really good chance that he’ll share some TV time with Rev. Al Sharpton. Think about that.

It’s one of the now highly-likely scenarios that, though previously ridiculous, could happen when Williams transitions over to cable in August. And it begs the question — what kinds of awkward things might Williams have to say?

We have a few ideas about that.

“I’m Brian Williams from the MSNBC news desk. Back to you Reverend Al.”

Just imagine it — breaking news lead Williams covering a story that can only find PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton as its outlet. Guessing as to what that story might be is enough to encourage endless giggles, but we’ll just stick with the above line for now.

“Yes Chris, we’re all in with you.”

That MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes has been having trouble with the ratings (and network execs) isn’t really all that new. So Hayes is probably wringing his overly-tight necktie now that Williams is heading over to lend some extra credibility.

“I’m sorry Rachel, did you say ‘teabagging’ or ‘Tea Party’?”

Rachel Maddow‘s Internet-famous giggle-fest over the Tea Party’s repeated use of the words “teabag” and “teabagging” are legendary. While the grassroots GOP offshoot has mostly fallen out of favor since its initial surge, the actual term will likely come up again in 2016. And Williams will probably have to say both words (perhaps unintentionally), repeatedly.

BONUS THROWBACK: “You’re absolutely right, Martin!”

If only Martin Bashir were still an MSNBC host. Then we’d have to bear witness to Brian Williams ingratiating himself to the bombastic commentator with everyone’s favorite phrase: “You’re absolutely right, Martin!
