BREAKING: Ricky Gervais Explains The “Missing Hour” At The Golden Globes
British comic Ricky Gervais, whose performance as MC of the Golden Globes Sunday night earned far more attention that the award winners, has just released a statement through his publicist regarding the “missing hour” when Gervais seemed to vanish mid-show, sparking conspiracy theory-making on Twitter: did Ricky just get fired…or worse?
Gervais’ opening monologue may have sent celebs squirming in the hall, but it didn’t get him yanked, even for an hour. Katie Phillips, Gervais’ publicist, has just released a statement, saying the hour was planned in advance, and had more to do with comedy than conspiracy:
From Ricky:
“I did every single introduction I was meant to. There just happened to be a long gap. This is because I was allowed to choose who I would introduce in advance. I obviously chose presenters who I had the best jokes for. (And who I knew had a good sense of humour)Everyone took it well and the atmosphere backstage and at the after show was great.”
