I laugh every time I hear a lefty proclaim Republicans are further to the right than Ronald Reagan.  There’s a reason you don’t hear actual conservatives saying that, and that’s because its BS.  Look up Senate and House records from the Reagan years and compare to today’s.  Depending on the publication you should also be able to do that with periodicals of the day.  

Walter Cronkite was indeed described as ‘most trusted’, he was also a liberal, so there’s no surprise he sees ‘truth’ as liberal.  Hitler wasn’t liberal (though he was progressive) and he thought he was right too – that didn’t make him right, and a liberal’s opinion on what is right doesn’t make it right either.  Opinions are like ___, everyone has at least one and none are exactly the same.  The closest you’ll get to a truth is getting a collection of opinions from people that both are and are not subject matter experts (to protect against tunnel vision) and have them review the ‘facts’.   Good luck on that, it isn’t easy.

I had to just reply back to your WTF comment.  Real quick, Ronald Reagan was pragmatic, raised taxes 11 times, and reached across the aisle.  Reagan rallied to get rid of nukes.  And if he were alive today I would bet you he would embrace the knowledge of global warming.  There have been plenty of conservatives that worked in his administration that have come out and said the party has gone right of Reagan (they were saying it before liberals were.)  YOU do the research.  Reagan would be in Huntsman’s spot today.
