Colbert Surprised That, Unlike Oprah, Letterman Doesn’t Give His Guests Gifts
Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert seems to be just about everywhere lately — Oprah’s Last Chapter, the Late Show, our dreams. He stopped by David Letterman‘s show last night to talk about, duh, Oprah Winfrey, as well as what it’s like to climb a mountain. (Hint: Terrifying.)

Colbert had been working on his book out in the Tetons when his wife suggested that he and his two sons go mountain climbing. The whole thing sounds positively awful, particularly given Colbert’s admitted fear of heights and the necessity of having to cling to the mountain’s surface “like a spider monkey.”
But, as Colbert put it, at least he could be guaranteed to be with his kids “in the end.” [Silent scream]:
As for Oprah, Colbert had been astounded by the number of presents she gives her guests after interviewing them. This was something that baffled Letterman, leaving Colbert with no choice but to walk off the show.
