Dickerson Confronts Trump Over Lewandowski Initially Not Telling Truth on Michelle Fields
On Face the Nation this morning, John Dickerson repeatedly tried to get Donald Trump to acknowledge that campaign manager Corey Lewandowski initially, and falsely, denied he even touched her.
In the immediate wake of this controversy, Lewandowski not only denied it happened and shared links to websites that backed up that false account, but he attacked Fields’ character. The video released days ago shows that, even if Fields exaggerated what happened, there’s no question Lewandowski grabbed her.
Dickerson confronted Trump over and over about the fact that Lewandowski was not telling the truth at first. Trump went on the attack against Fields, said the video shows “practically nothing happened,” and even dismissively said “I don’t know” if he even grabbed her.
Trump continued to insist what he suddenly “remembered” days ago––that Fields apparently grabbed him.
When Dickerson asked Trump why he can’t just “be the bigger person,” Trump said, “It’s not my job to apologize to her.”
