Roger Ailes Says He ‘Doesn’t Care’ If Reports Claim Glenn Beck Was Fired Or Quit?

For what it’s worth, Roger Ailes isn’t losing sleep over how reporters write up the news of the end of Glenn Beck‘s show on Fox News. “Half of the headlines say he’s been canceled,” Ailes tells the Associated Press’ David Bauder. “The other half say he quit. We’re pretty happy with both of them.”

Bauder, who describes Beck’s tenure at Fox as a “quick burn,” notes that Ailes wondered how much longer the current format of the show could continue:

“We felt Glenn brought additional information, a unique perspective, a certain amount of passion and insight to the channel and he did,” Ailes said. “But that story of what’s going on and why America is in trouble today, I think he told that story as well as could be told. Whether you can just keep telling that story or not … we’re not so sure.”

Whether advertiser backlash played any role in Beck’s departure from the 5 p.m. slot, Ailes said no, though he conceded the reaction of advertisers was “frustrating,” telling the AP, “advertisers who get weak-kneed because some idiot on a blog site writes to them and says we need to stifle speech, I get a little frustrated by that.”

Let me be the first to call Ailes a RINO.

So do I, I don’t give a darn. As long as the crying, crazy freak is gone.

Actually Roger is the genius in this whole matter. He got rid of his Beck problem. He let Glenn save face. And he gets a ton of free attention.

That would mean Ailes 1, Everyone else 0.

  • Color Me Badd

Uh wait i thought all the teabaggers on Mediaite said that they were keeping Glenn and he was going to be an instrumental part of Fox going forward?

Someone needs to tell Roger Ailes this it looks like. Tee Hee

    Bye Glenn!

Now that the circus is leaving town, can we send Ailes the bill for the damage to the nation?

  • Liberal Tormentor

Yep, libs are ALL about stifling any opinion that doesn’t agree with theirs. That’s how they roll. They can’t win in the arena of ideas, so dissenting opinions must be silenced.

And Color Me Ignorant, you are seeing what you want to see, per usual.

Yesterday, Pablo replied to my suggestion that FNC’s 5 o’clock hour will likely transition to election coverage with the fact that Beck replaced a similar show, when he moved to Fox.

So, basically, Ailes filled the void between presidential elections with a ratings juggernaut and was blessed with a “quick burn”, so that he can transition back to something newsy without backlash from the talent. As an added bonus, the move is also getting him accolades.

Definitely well-played, if you ask me.

That’s a basic tool of the Left………………because the Leftist agenda cannot be supported with truth and logic. Otherwise, you Libs would welcome the opportunity for debate. Instead, you only razz and jeer, hiss and boo, like spoiled-brat juvenile delinquents watching their team losing an intramural basketball game.

Beck just said that the end of his show will be at Fox’s convenience, as they decide and develop what comes next for them. There is no problem between he and Ailes, and they both seem to be tickled by the reactions.

I didn’t like Olbermann, but always figured he had the right to say whatever he wanted. If I didn’t like the show, no one was making me watch. Guess the left doesn’t see it that way.

I’d say they both won. Ailes was able to fill a void; Beck brought a lot of attention and viewers to Fox, while was also able to build his personal brand, presenting him with more opportunities.

As the Bauder piece implies and the ratings have shown, there’s really only a short window when what Beck served isn’t just warmed-over topics and restatement of a story already told. Beck was tired; Ailes needs the slot and perhaps through the prescience of forethought, their original contract was coming to an end.

    Everybody wins.

Olbermann was fired, Beck was not. Beck and FOX have made a mutual decision to end the show. Beck will continue to offer his other talents to FOX. People that are fired from a network don’t enjoy such opportunities.

A rare incident of honesty from Ailes and FOX “News”:

“2. Always remember to use the deception that has brought us to power. For example, if you author a bill to raise taxes, name it “The Tax Reduction Bill.” If we need to confiscate more freedom, call the effort “The Increased Freedom Initiative.” That’s the way to get things done.
