Oregon Sheriff: ‘The Shooter Is Deceased’

Oregon Sheriff John Hanlin held a press conference this afternoon to confirm that the shooter who killed 13 people and injured others at Umpqua Community College is dead.

Hanlin said that authorities ended up in a shootout, after which the shooter––identified as a 20-year-old male (with no further information about him yet)––was neutralized.

When asked if that means the shooter’s dead, Hanlin said yes.

Governor Kate Brown spoke briefly after the sheriff and said that the shooter was 20 years old.
