Actor and comedian Ricky Gervais will stop by his good friend Piers Morgan’s CNN show and in this preview from their conversation, the two Brits discuss the new phenomenon of blind gun owners in America. Gervais agreed that legally blind people should not have gun permits, but he thinks the same thing should apply to Morgan.
Morgan played devil’s advocate for a moment, offering the defense given by many who support a law recently passed in Iowa. “If they were full sighted and used a gun,” Morgan proposed, “just because they lose their sight, why should lose the constitutional right to continue having a gun.”
“It’s a difficult one,” Gervais began, “but the short answer is: because they can’t see what they’re shooting.”
When Morgan explained that as a U.S. resident, he’s also covered by the Constitution, Gervais looked concerned. “But tell me you’re not allowed to carry a gun,” he said. Morgan said that if he were in Texas, he could walk into Walmart and pick up an AR-15 assault rifle off the shelf, but he wouldn’t be able to buy a Kinder Egg, because it’s a choking hazard.
“Dear America,” Gervais said, “please let Piers buy a Kinder Egg, but don’t let him buy a gun.”
