Robert DeNiro Mocks Immigration Debate During Acceptance Speech

Video

Robert DeNiro was honored Sunday evening with a Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in motion pictures and, like so many other recipients of major awards, he took advantage of the moment to say a lot of things people are forced to listen to because 1) cameras are on them, and 2) there’s already a huge line for the bathroom.

DeNiro chose to use his special moment to give his thoughts on immigration, which included a joke about the Hollywood Foreign Press, Spanish actor Javier Bardem and waiters (All of them? Some of them? Just the ones who moonlight as famous actors with work visas?) all being deported.

Now, once you finish laughing, can we talk about where on Earth host Ricky Gervais left to?

Travis Bickle kills it! Definitely funnier than Little Fockers, which sucked.

  • Dem4Ever

He is the funniest actor ever.

Thanks for the reminder of why I stopped watching these tiresome awards shows.

Us too…Several years ago, I got tired of watching people pat themselves on the back, telling each other how great they are..you know the routine.

    DeNiro is an all-time great!

    YES HE IS

love deniro…the aforementioned travis bickle, jake lamotta, vito corleomne, michael in the deer hunter…but bob, those jokes sucked big time.

He basically mocked the people giving him an award. That’s class with two extra letters at the front. Poor taste.

Robert De Niro has been just about my favorite actor for most of my life. He is an honest, straight forward person with a passion for social justice. A really good man.

I’m glad Brad Pitt was there to explain the jokes to Angelina. I hope a plastic surgeon will attempt to unfreeze Warren Betty’s face before next year’s awards and I was quite surprised to see Charles Nelson Reilly there, even though he died years ago. What? That was Barry Levinson?

    My bad.

It was pretty funny and you should have expected this from liberal Hollywood and NBC. Nothing shocking

0prah Winfrey had an extra joint added to each elbow, so that she can pat herself on the back when others won’t.

You do know he’s white, don’t you???

DeNiro is opening up a little. I remember an old Playboy interview with him. About all they could get out of him was his name.

I was unaware that Immigration and Homeland Security gave out Golden Globes.

Just because he has “jungle fever” doesn’t make him a good man.

That’s because you have to be very careful who you bash in Hollywood, if you expect to work there.

Supporting illegal immigration is social justice? Does that strike anyone else as somehow oxymoronic?

It took my family over a decade to legally immigrate into the United States. My father and aunts and uncles don’t often talk about the sacrifices and hardships they endured. They all love this nation – and those who are citizen are proud of their citizenship.

I don’t much pay attention to these people – they are ACTORS for the love of Pete. I still get a chuckle when I think about the fact that Ben Affleck actually co-chaired a foreign policy panel at the Democratic Convention that anointed Mr. Obama.

I have a black wife, and I’m conservative. What’s your stereotypical point, weasel?

  • CAconservative

Was Bob supporting or attacking deportation? Shades of Obimbo when they messed up his TelePrompTer.
