Semi-Interesting Media War A Brewin’?: Letterman Vs. Hannity!

Ah, this could be fun. Last night, David Letterman used the Fox & Friends jetpack gaffe as a springboard for a Top 10 list of “Signs There’s Trouble at FOX News.” While the segment’s barbs never got any more critical that insinuating that Bill O’Reilly was going to institute a “No Pants Zone,” NewsBusters picked the story up and now Sean Hannity is going to run with it. Set your DVRs for “mildly amused!”

Yes, with Hannity promising he’s discuss the piece on his show today, we can only imagine the fun that’s coming in the days ahead. Could this become a battle to rival the likes of Stewart vs. Goldberg or Letterman vs. Palin? Most likely it will just turn into a televised schoolyard spat (Hannity insinuates that Letterman is in fact a “Poopy Head” while Letterman counters by comparing the strength of Hannity’s father negatively to the strength of his own) that gets both hosts some good headlines for a bit until something more interesting happens.

Either way, we can’t wait to see what Hannity’s got planned. Maybe he’ll just complain that he was left off the list?

Not one blonde bimbo joke? The barking Beck was worth it.And poor Sean he is so dull, unfunny and predictable that even the even duller Greta now gets more ink.But Hannity does his serious and smug look real good.,

Maybe FOX “News” can round up those eleven (11) protesters they found for the Pale-one demonstration and march on Dave, again. That was very effective.

More people watch and listen to Hannity than perpetual schub Letterboy, a guy who used to be funny, but now is a sort of Al Franken without a real job and a sex addiction that won’t quit. I’m gonna guess that Conan on TBS cable outdraws libturd Letterman right away. And as for trading punches with Hannity, Letterman didn’t lay a glove on him.

Letterman is still obsessed with Sarah Palin.

    He thinks about her whenever:
    (1) he’s having sex with his wife
    (2) he’s having sex with himself
    (3) he’s having sex with a female staffer who doesn’t know if she will keep her job if she refuses him

    I’d vote Hannity!

  • Big_F-ing_Deal

Jesus Christ, do you GOPbaggers have to whine every time someone tells a joke about you?

This is the reason there are no conservative comedians. It is very hard to laugh with a huge stick in your ass.

Really classless, Arky. And yes, you would vote for Hannity. You’d vote for the devil himself, if he were conservative, even Paladino.

  • StandUp

Hannity would never attack an unarmed man.
PLOP (sound of stick popping out)

    How’s that BFD?

You’re right! There are no conservative comedians — unless you count limbaugh.

Spot on. We are cursed with a vast coterie of thin skinned crybaby pundits from Hannity to Olbermann to Beck to Sanchez. They can dish it out but not one of them can take it.

This is going to upset the cult of people who worship a cable news channel.

You can tell when the entire staff of MSNBC rips through a story like a tornado, leaving lots of thumbs in the wrong places. I’ve never been so proud to have a few thumbs down as on this story.

When ‘chucken’ and ‘fallen chicken’ get more ups than downs, pigs are flying!

Well said sir, Pawn Vannity does lead a charmed life. He follows the Number one rated show on radio and the number one rated show on cable news. When I watched the segment I did see it didn’t get too many laughs but if it ticked Mr. Hannity off then they did their job.

I pray for the day ‘Freedom Watch’ outdraws him in the ratings.

I’m going to try to give you a sincere response, because you do have a reasonable point.

Some conservatives may appear to, as you put it, worship FOX. Yes chicken, that includes me. But there is a genuine reason for that adoration. You see, we lived for decades with ONLY a very liberal media. Having never heard anywhere near a balanced treatment of most political stories, we built up an incredible thirst. Then, whamo, along comes FOX. Suddenly things make some sense. I no longer felt like there was something wrong with me. (Aside: maybe as many gays have felt)

And damn if it doesn’t turn out that instead of being in a closeted minority, MOST AMERICANS feel a lot more like I do about these things!

Also, wouldn’t you agree that the left’s “adoration” of Obama is more “cult-like” than I am? They treated him like Bruce Springsteen or Bono, not the incredibly imperfect person he is. You know I’m right.

I hate it when a conservative makes a fool of himself. It happens. But rest assured chicken, if it is really important, FOX will not bury it.

Now stop it Dave! If BFD wants to entertain thoughts in his head about ass and sticks who are we to judge?

  • chucken

Hannity is still doing Bill Ayers and Rev Wright rants! And his show is what poll fits into his GOP agenda. And I doubt if he ever let a liberal talk for more than 15 seconds before butting in and asking a how long have you been beating your wife question.Jon Stewart did a great bit on how unwatchable and cringe inducing his show is.

just because someone agrees with you does not make it right… lots and lots of people agreed with hitler… speaking of … seems alot of similarity of propoganda between that network and his statments like ohh.. i duno:

I use emotion for the many and reserve reason for the few

As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice.

All great movements are popular movements. They are the volcanic eruptions of human passions and emotions, stirred into activity by the ruthless Goddess of Distress or by the torch of the spoken word cast into the midst of the people.

Indeed. One would have to consider both Dennis Miller and Colin Quinn “comedians,” and that would just be inaccurate.

Another article on this site indirectly notes that 14 years ago, Fox News started hiring people from other media outlets and to this day, they’ve continued filling their ranks primarily with experienced people in the field.

So, one, you’d think that in fourteen years, Fox cultists would be used to the fact that they exist and two, prior to joining FNC, many of their original journalists and opinion makers had established their bona fides.

  • http://twitter.com/SailRabbits Magister

…not to mention that in 14 years, those who populate the field of journalism have changed.

There is one thing I wish: that whenever some washed-up putz like Letterman makes a comment to rile the conservatives, the target of his scorn KEEPS QUIET! That way, the Letterman-types don’t get what they want, and then they’ll crawl off to a corner somewhere and maybe even come up with something halfway funny.

It all goes back to this: Rational people hunger for the TRUTH–they will go wherever they must to learn the TRUTH. Fox News provides people with the TRUTH, and this is the entire reason for their success.
