SNL Lampoons Fox & Friends For Refusing To Call Gay NBA Player ‘Hero’
For its cold open this week, Saturday Night Live tore into its favorite cable news target: Fox & Friends.
Mocking the show’s general social conservatism, SNL‘s versions of Brian Kilmeade (Bobby Moynihan), Gretchen Carlson (Vanessa Bayer), and Steve Doocy (Taran Killam) repeated the general conservative line that newly out-of-the-closet NBA player Jason Collins is definitely not a “hero.”
“I mean, why does telling embarrassing personal secrets make you a hero?” asked the Dooce. “Hey, everybody, I prefer Asian ladies, I’m a hero!”
“Hey, I use prescription deodorant on my entire body,” Bayer’s Carlson said. “I mean, give me a medal!”
“I practice french kissing on my own hand,” said the show’s version of Kilmeade. “Isn’t that right, Jessica?”
After the gang finished tearing into Collins’ faux-legacy, they then took on another one of their favorite targets: New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg (played by Fred Armisen), who reassured everyone that his gun control push will work because “the one thing gun owners will listen to is a northeastern Jewish billionaire.”
