WATCH: Fox & Friends Addresses Trump Missing Veteran Memorial Due to Light Rain
While President Donald Trump is in France to observe the 100 year anniversary of the end of World War I, he is receiving harsh criticism at home for his curious absence on Saturday from a memorial due to rain.
The visit was planned for the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in France – where U.S. war dead were being honored – but was cancelled because of rain. The allegedly inclement weather, however, did not preclude French President Emmanuel Macron or German Chancellor Angela Merkel from attending — the former even tweeted a photo of the two European leaders together with “Unis,” which translates in English to “United.”
MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle asks a question on many Americans’ minds:
I am not judging
I am asking
Where is the rain https://t.co/tKA0gTEFI0— Stephanie Ruhle (@SRuhle) November 10, 2018
Trump’s critics have been harsh, tweeting numerous photos of former U.S. President Barack Obama attending memorials in harsh rain, like this for example:
This is a real leader @realDonaldTrump. The rain…seriously? You have no idea what we go through in war and that’s why us Vets should hold a special place in society. Thank you @BarackObama for being a pure class act! #Resist pic.twitter.com/M6uWy7m06c

Others have noted that rain hasn’t preCluded Trump from doing other things:
Trump can’t honor fallen American heroes in the rain but had no problems playing golf earlier this year in it. pic.twitter.com/4LDUQHQtOU

And others spread more interesting theories that will require more reporting:
1. Donald Trump afraid of rain
2. Water dissolves witches (citation: The Wizard of Oz)
3. Donald Trump hates “witch hunt”
4. President has been confessing to being actual witch this whole time— erin “?” ryan (@morninggloria) November 10, 2018
Fox & Friends is the most-watched morning show on cable news and is often derided for being in lockstep with the Trump administration in the opinions they promote. So they deserve a ton of credit for tackling an embarrassing issue like this for President Trump in a similar manner they’d treat Obama if he missed a memorial service honoring fallen U.S. soldiers due to very light rain.
“President Trump was scheduled to visit the cemetery yesterday but because of the weather and logistics was not able to be done yesterday he is scheduled to go there today.”
Damning words indeed.

UPDATE: Fox News’ Katie Pavlich and Ed Henry issued an on-air correction to their coverage of Trump missing the ceremony, in which Pavlich incorrectly claimed the president be visiting the cemetery today:
“I want to correct something we said earlier in the program where I think we suggested he was going today to the cemetery, he was supposed to go yesterday, in fact he’s going to a different ceremony,” Henry said.
“That was my mistake I apologize,” Pavlich said. “I said he was going to the cemetery he was scheduled to go to yesterday that got cancelled due to security and rain. He’s going to a different cemetery after this event is over.”
