Who Said It? “I’m so heartbroken that the Internet, for the first time, was wrong about something.”
…It’s super-cute SNL head writer and “Weekend Update” Anchor Seth Meyers!
Meyers just confirmed that he’ll continue to man the Update desk solo for SNL’s upcoming season, squelching rumors that multi-character (and super-busy) colleague Kristen Wiig would be joining him at the table (which would have been a boneheaded use of her, as he said — she already contributes a number of solid repeat contributors to Update, including my favorite, Aunt Linda just kidding it’s Judy Grimes.). The full context of the quote:
“It looks like for right now, we’re going to stick with doing it solo,” Meyers said Monday in New York as he was getting ready for the show’s 35th season premiere on September 26.
Meyers, SNL’s head writer, hosted the popular sketch alone after Amy Poehler left the show last season. Last week, several online sites were reporting that featured player Kristen Wiig was set to become Meyers’ partner on the show’s longest-running recurring segment.
“I’m so heartbroken that the Internet, for the first time, was wrong about something,” Meyers joked. “How are we ever going to trust the Internet again?”
Seth Meyers knows whereof he speaks vis a vis the Internet — he’s hosted the Webby Awards for the past two years, and that is a very prestigious position. Oh yeah: The guy who used to date Jennifer Garner who is not Ben Affleck is Michael Vartan. Hello – dead ringer.
Here he is doing “Really!?!” alone, the follow-up to “Really!?! With Seth & Amy” — proving he can handle it pretty ably alone. Mmm, dessert nachos. Compare and contrast with “Really!?! With Seth & Amy” below.
