Conservatives are calling out President Joe Biden for celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility on Easter Sunday.

On Friday, Biden put out a White House proclamation in recognition of Transgender Day of Visibility, noting the day was meant to honor “extraordinary courage and contributions of transgender Americans.”

The Transgender Day of Visibility is held every year on March 31st; however, the date of Easter changes every year and lined up on the same day. The holiday started in 2009 as a way to celebrate transgender and gender-nonconforming individuals.

However, Republican lawmakers and right-wingers online used Biden’s proclamation to claim the president was ignoring Easter Sunday. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) bashed Biden for betraying “the central tenet of Easter” in a post on X.

Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump issued his own statement on Saturday, calling Biden’s proclamation “appalling and insulting.”

Other right-wing personalities on X, including Benny Johnson, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Charlie Kirk, also expressed outrage over the decision by the White House to honor transgender Americans. In addition, Conservatives flamed Biden for banning religious symbols at this year’s White House Easter egg designs event.
