Lawrence O’Donnell Nukes Trump for ‘Juror Intimidation,’ Says Ex-President Is Telling Jury, ‘You Will Be Attacked’

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell opened Wednesday’s edition of The Last Word by going hard at Donald Trump for what he said was the former president’s intimidation of jurors.

Jury selection in Trump’s criminal case began on Monday and so far, seven jurors have been seated. Trump has claimed that he cannot get a fair trial in Manhattan, where he is charged with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. The ex-president has pleaded not guilty to all counts.

On Wednesday, Trump took to Truth Social and quoted Fox News host Jesse Watters.

“They are catching undercover Liberal Activists lying to the Judge in order to get on the Trump Jury,” Trump quoted Watters.

O’Donnell read the post and did not hold back, claiming Trump violated a gag order imposed on him by Judge Juan Merchan.

“What Jesse Watters is referring to there are the jurors – the seven who have already been officially seated on that jury,” O’Donnell said. “That’s who he’s referring to. And he’s saying they have lied their way onto the jury. Donald Trump is endorsing that. Those words are the same as Donald Trump writing them himself. That was Donald Trump’s choice to violate his gag order tonight, possibly in the very worst way. In fact, definitely in the worst way he has violated this gag order so far.”

The host called the move “a severe test” of Merchan and how he plans to respond.

“This is by Donald Trump, by any interpretation, juror intimidation,” he continued. “This is specifically aimed at intimidating the seven people already seated on that jury and anyone else who might be seated on the jury, that when you’re seated on Donald Trump’s jury, you will be attacked, you will be publicly attacked by Donald Trump and his allies in the news media.”

Earlier in the evening, former federal prosecutor Jeffrey Toobin told CNN that Trump’s post “clearly” violated Merchan’s gag order.
