WILD Video Shows Defendant Attacking Judge During Sentencing: ‘F*ck That, Bitch!’
Incredible courtroom video showed a defendant leap over a judge’s bench to attack her after she denied him probation.
Clark County District Court Judge Mary Kay Holthus had just denied 30-year-old Deobra Redden parole on a battery charge, saying, “I think it’s time he get a taste of something else.”
That’s when all hell broke loose.
Redden was heard yelling, “Oh, fuck that, bitch!” He then leapt over the bench in a superhuman feat that surprised everyone in the courtroom.
Several people yelled, “Hey!” and “Woah, woah, woah!” as they came to the judge’s aid. Redden didn’t stop fighting after being pulled off Holthus, prompting court officials to wrestle and pummel him.
People in the gallery were heard yelling, “Get off of him!” while others begged Redden to stop.
One person who looked like an attorney bent over the bench and asked, “Is she ok?”
The judge reportedly hit her head and was taken to the hospital, but is expected to be ok. A court marshal did get hurt, but it was unclear how severe his injuries were.
Redden was seeking probation for threatening “to bust the kneecaps” of another man, “resulting in substantial bodily harm,” KLAS in Las Vegas reported. He was ordered to undergo a competency evaluation, and then committed to a state behavioral facility. Redden was found competent, and pleaded guilty to the charge. “Judge Holthus issued a bench warrant for his arrest in December after he missed a court appearance,” according to KLAS.
In a statement, Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said, “Thank God the judge is okay. Thank God for the heroic efforts of those who came to her aid, especially her marshal and her law clerk. Without them, the situation would have been much worse as this defendant exhibited extremely violent behavior and I’m confident there will be consequences.”
Redden’s attorney did not respond to KLAS’ request for comment.
