Report: Trump Did Not Donate Money He Promised To 9/11 Charities Following Attacks

trump-speecheditedAn audit done by the New York City Comptroller’s Office reveals that despite promises to do so, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump never donated any money to 9/11 charities or funds a year following the 2001 terror attacks.

In a statement made to ABC News earlier today, Comptroller Scott Stringer noted that he could find no evidence of contributions by Trump.

“My office has reviewed the donations made in the nearly 12 months following the attacks – and we didn’t find evidence that he contributed a single cent to the victims, our first responders, and to our city through the Twin Towers Fund,” New York City Comptroller Scott Stringer, a Democrat, said in a statement to ABC News today.

“In the wake of 9/11, New Yorkers came together, healed, and rebuilt. If Donald Trump claimed to donate and didn’t, if he claimed to support New Yorkers in a time of crisis and refused, then that would be just plain wrong.”

During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show shortly after 9/11, the real estate mogul personally promised to give $10,000 to the Twin Towers Fund. He never made any such donation.

Per the New York Daily News, the only contribution they could find to 9/11 charities from Trump was a $1,000 donation to the New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Fund in 2006.
