WATCH: Biden Campaign to Run 2 Minute Ad on Broadcast Networks and Fox News Trolling Trump Ahead of RNC Speech
Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is set to run a two-minute advertisement on Thursday, countering the final night of the Republican National Convention, during which President Donald Trump will make his renomination speech.
The ad, which never mentions Trump by name, will run on ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox News this ahead of the networks’ RNC programming, and will also run throughout the weekend in key battleground states such as Arizona, Florida, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
The Biden campaign’s decision to run the ad follows the Trump campaign’s own marketing push last week during the Democratic National Convention, during which the president’s advertisements were played on YouTube and other digital streaming platforms.
The ad showcases a message of positivity from Biden, which also aims to redefine him as a fast-paced candidate instead of the “Sleepy Joe” image Trump has attempted to paint.
“When Joe Biden is president, America is just going to have to keep up,” a narrator said, opening the spot before promising that the nominee already has a detailed coronavirus response plan.
The narrator also noted Biden’s own suffering as a way to connect him to those in pain amid the pandemic — mentioning this loss of his wife, daughter, and son.
“America’s an idea. An idea stronger than any army, more powerful than any dictator or tyrant. It gives hope to the most desperate people on Earth,” Biden said during the ad. “And it’s an idea as alive and powerful today as it was when it was first proposed. The most powerful idea in the history of the world, I think beats in the heart of the people of this country.”
Biden projected a message of unity during the advertisement, promising equality no matter someone’s identity.
“No matter your race, your ethnicity. No matter your gender identity, your sexual orientation. No matter your faith. It unites America,” he said. “Whether your ancestors were native to these shores or they were brought here forcibly and enslaved. Whether they’re immigrants of generations back or those coming today looking to build a better life for their families.”
