CNN Obtains Horrific Surveillance Video Appearing to Show Diddy Violently Attacking Cassie Ventura
Warning: the above video contains disturbing and graphic footage.
CNN has obtained horrifying surveillance video footage from a hotel where Sean “Diddy” Combs was staying with his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, appearing to show him violently attacking her.
Entertainment correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister reported on the video on Friday’s episode of CNN News Central, telling anchors Brianna Keilar and Jessica Dean that the footage was from a March 2016 stay Ventura and Combs took to a Los Angeles hotel, describing the footage as “very disturbing” and noting that “it really seems to support at least some of the abuse claims” against Combs.
Several of the rapper’s homes were raided by the FBI in March, reportedly in connection with a federal sex-trafficking probe, and he has been accused by multiple women of rape, sex trafficking, and sexual harassment in recent years, including a lawsuit filed by Ventura.
Wagmeister mentioned Ventura’s lawsuit, which was “quickly settled within one day” and included allegations about an assault in the hallway of a Los Angeles hotel. This video “appears to corroborate some of the allegations of abuse” from Ventura’s complaint, Wagmeister said. A longer written report on CNN’s website noted that the network compared the footage to publicly available photos of the now-closed hotel’s interior to verify the location, and that Ventura had made allegations about the existence of the surveillance video in her complaint.
According to the complaint, Combs “became extremely intoxicated and punched Ms. Ventura in the face, giving her a black eye,” said Wagmeister, and Ventura said she waited until he fell asleep to attempt to leave the hotel room, but as she left, Combs woke up and began screaming at her, following her into the hallway while yelling at her.
The video clips show multiple angles of the incident. Ventura is seen leaving the room wearing an oversized black hoodie and carrying a bag. Combs can then be seen following after her, appearing to be wearing nothing except socks and a white towel around his waist. In the video, Combs can be seen grabbing Ventura, picking up glass vases from the hallway and throwing them at her, kicking her multiple times near the elevators while she was lying on the ground, hitting her, and attempting to drag her along the floor back to the room. The video shows Ventura picking up a hotel phone near the elevators and Combs walks back towards the hotel room but returns and assaults her again, shoving her into a corner and throwing another object in her direction.
Ventura, a model and singer, was in an on-and-off relationship with Combs from 2007-2018. Her complaint alleged that Combs subjected her to years of physical and sexual abuse, including raping her in 2018 and forcing her to engage in sex acts with other men.
In the settlement agreement between Combs and Ventura, Wagmeister said, Combs’ attorney said the decision to settle the lawsuit was not an admission of wrongdoing. Combs and his representatives had not responded to CNN’s request for comment regarding the video, but he had repeatedly denied wrongdoing in other past lawsuits and the federal investigation.
Ventura declined to comment about the video, but her attorney told CNN, “The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the courage and fortitude that Ms. Ventura has shown in coming forward to bring this to light.”
A total of six lawsuits have been filed against Combs, said Wagmeister, including five that “directly accuse him of sexual assault.”
