Your 4th of July Flashback: Remember When Tim Love Tried to Teach Us How to ‘Be a Gangster?’
Happy 4th of July!
We thought we’d start this holiday off with a little flashback. Remember Tim Love‘s awkward yet amazing 4th of July Today Show appearance in 2012? We do. Today had recruited Texas chef Tim Love to show off his grillin’ and chillin’ skills in preparation for the Fourth of July festivities, and, as always, we were able to count on his epic one-liners.
Here’s our favorite: “The skirt steak has really become a sexy cut of meat, like your shoes,” he told Today Show anchor Savannah Guthrie of his Independence Day steak of choice. Very smooth and not awkward at all, Tim.
Also, if you don’t like spicy food, Love has nothing but judgment-face for you. He likens skipping the Anaheim chilis in your potato salad to “mowing your lawn with scissors.” Noted.
The video may be a flashback but the recipe still holds. So, for this Fourth holiday, heed Tim’s cookout commandments: “smoke it, slice it, grill it, be a gangster,” and you, too, shall inherit the Earth. Or, at the very least, a wicked case of heartburn.
