It was a meeting of two networks at 30,000 feet recently, when CBS’s Gayle King found herself seated next to Fox News’s Jesse Watters on a cross-country flight.

The CBS Mornings host posted to Instagram Monday:

Two TV people from competing networks walk on to a plane and to the surprise of them both, they’re seated right next to each other for over four hours. How did it go? Speaking for @jessewatters here: A good time was had by all! Hi, Jesse…saving your number!

One woman replied to the post, “I love when we can disagree and maintain civility and respect. Great stuff,” while another wrote, “That makes for a very interesting 4 hour flight.”

Still another posted, “You are a better woman than me! I would have asked to move or take the next flight!”

King and Watters have a little bit of history dating from 2019. That’s when Watters mixed up King with Good Morning America host Robin Roberts.

On an episode of The Five, Watters tried to give King credit for her revealing interview with singer R. Kelly, who stood accused of sex trafficking. Kelly was later convicted and sentenced to 30 years.

Watters said on the show, “Hats off to Gayle King for totally redeeming herself after the [Jussie] Smollett fiasco.”

The Five co-host Dana Perino stepped in to correct Watters’s mistake, saying, “That was not Gayle King. Robin Roberts did the Smollett interview.”

“Sorry for Robin Roberts out there,” Watters said, “I apologize.”

Later on the show, he held up a small sign that read, “I’m sorry Gayle + Robin.”

New CBS News president Bari Weiss is said to be eyeing King and anchor Norah O’Donnell as she considers sweeping changes at the network. The New York Post recently reported, “King’s future at the penny-pinching network is murky, as the star’s lucrative contract of between $13 million and $15 million a year is up at the end of May.”
