Biden’s Interview on ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’ Sees Dip With Younger Viewers

President Joe Biden’s appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers did not score a ratings win for the NBC program, particularly with younger viewers.
The Monday night interview with the president brought in some 852,000 average total viewers and 181,000 viewers in the 25-54 age demographic, according to Nielsen Media Research. The demo viewership marked a 32 percent drop compared to the same day last year, which tracks with the show’s already declining demo viewership for the year – down some 10 percent year to date.
During the sitdown with Meyers, Biden cracked a joke about his age and took aim at former President Donald Trump for his recent gaffes and campaign rhetoric.
“The first thing they do, dictators do, is they disregard whatever the rule of law is. They just disregard it,” Biden said, ripping into Trump, adding:
Here’s a guy who says he wants to–. He thinks he can change the Constitution and ignore it. Just ignore portions of the Constitution!
Here’s the guy who talks about retribution.
Biden’s appearance made national headlines as he is not a regular feature on most Americans’ televisions and NBC heavily promoted the interview.
Monday night also saw Jon Stewart return to host The Daily Show, which he rejoined on February 12th. Stewart’s third show, he’s only hosting Monday nights, since his return brought in 885,000 total average viewers and 259,000 viewers in the 25-54 demo. While his lowest-rated program since returning to the show, Stewart still beat out Meyers – although he notably airs in an earlier timeslot. Last week, Stewart scored 1.3 million viewers and 320,000 demo viewers.
Fox News’s Gutfeld! led the evening with 2.13 million viewers and 291,000 in the demo.
