‘Despicable and Thoughtless!’ Rand Paul Absolutely Smokes JD Vance for Defending US Strike On Alleged Venezuela Drug Boat

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) torched Vice President JD Vance for defending the deadly US strike on a Venezuelan boat officials believed to be carrying drugs — with the Kentucky senator calling it “despicable and thoughtless” for Vance to “glorify” the killing of those on board the vessel without a trial.
Paul’s comments came in response to Vance defending the strike — in which 11 people were killed. President Donald Trump claimed the 11 were members of Tren de Aragua gang and the boat was headed for the United States. But experts have raised questions about the legality of the strike — given that Tren de Aragua has not been officially designated by Congress as an enemy combatant whom the US is allowed to kill.
Vance, in a post on X Saturday, stood behind the attack.
“Killing cartel members who poison our fellow citizens is the highest and best use of our military,” Vance wrote.
The vice president was engaged by progressive activist Brian Krassenstein — who responded, “Killing the citizens of another nation who are civilians without any due process is called a war crime.”
Vance replied, “I don’t give a shit what you call it.”
That comment elicited an angry response from Senator Paul.
“JD ‘I don’t give a shit’ Vance says killing people he accuses of a crime is the ‘highest and best use of the military,'” Paul wrote. “Did he ever read To Kill a Mockingbird? Did he ever wonder what might happen if the accused were immediately executed without trial or representation?? What a despicable and thoughtless sentiment it is to glorify killing someone without a trial.”
CNN reports that several Senate and House committees were due to be briefed on the strike Friday, but the Pentagon abruptly canceled those briefings — despite many lawmakers remaining unclear on the legal grounds for the attack.
