DHS Announces Major Immigration Crackdown In Chicago After Trump’s Threats of Troops
Thousands of protesters continued to flood downtown Chicago in the wake of the Department of Homeland Security announcing a major ICE operation called “Operation Midway Blitz” to target undocumented migrants in the city.
DHS wrote on social media Monday:
DHS is launching Operation Midway Blitz in honor of Katie Abraham who was killed in a drunk driving hit-and-run car wreck caused by criminal illegal alien Julio Cucul-Bol in Illinois.
This ICE operation will target the criminal illegal aliens who flocked to Chicago and Illinois because they knew Governor Pritzker and his sanctuary policies would protect them and allow them to roam free on American streets.
President Trump and Secretary Noem stand with the victims of illegal alien crime while Governor [JB] Pritzker stands with criminal illegal aliens.
Pritzker told MSNBC’s Jen Psaki he believed there were about 300 agents “preparing to invade the communities around Chicago.”
Reporter Shaq Brewster reported Monday that there’s “a feeling of a city bracing for what is to come, especially in light of that announcement, Operation Midway, from the federal government.”
Brewster said crowds have been protesting throughout the weekend in downtown Chicago.
“People saying that they don’t want to see this increased immigration enforcement, that they don’t want to see National Guard troops in downtown Chicago,” Brewster said. “And I should also add that there is real fear. This is the start of celebrations of Mexican Independence Day, a city that is about 30% Latino. And the governor saying he believes that the administration is launching this immigration enforcement to time with those celebrations.”
Over the weekend, Trump posted an AI-generated meme to Truth Social of an Apocalypse Now-styled image of Chicago on fire and the words, “I love the smell of deportations in the morning. Chicago is about to find out why it’s called the Department of WAR.”
When asked by a reporter if he was trying to go to war with Chicago, Trump answered in part, “We’re not going to war, we’re gonna clean up our cities. We’re gonna clean them up so they don’t kill five people every weekend. That’s not war, that’s common sense.”
