DHS to Open ‘Cornhusker Clink’ Migrant Detention Center in Nebraska

Another state, another alliterative detention center.

The Department of Homeland Security has unveiled plans to open another facility dedicated to housing detained migrants in Nebraska.

DHS chief Kristi Noem announced in an X post Tuesday that the “Cornhusker Clink” is in the works to add nearly 300 more beds for migrants detained by ICE.

“COMING SOON to Nebraska: Cornhusker Clink,” Noem wrote. “Today, we’re announcing a new partnership with the state of Nebraska to expand detention bed space by 280 beds. Thanks to Governor [Jim] Pillen for his partnership to help remove the worst of the worst out of our country. If you are in America illegally, you could find yourself in Nebraska’s Cornhusker Clink. Avoid arrest and self deport now using the CBP Home App.”

In response to Noem’s post, Pillen praised President Donald Trump and the efforts of his administration to tackle illegal immigration, writing: “This is about keeping Nebraskans – and Americans across our country – safe.”

“As his Administration works to secure our borders and keep our streets safe, @POTUS has Nebraska’s support. Grateful for the opportunity to partner with @Sec_Noem and the great public servants and law enforcement officials with DHS and ICE.”

The “Cornhusker Clink” will be built at the site of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services work camp in the city of McCook. An opening date has not yet been revealed.

Noem’s announcement follows the notoriety of Florida’s “Alligator Alcatraz” and the “Speedway Slammer” in Indiana.
