Elon Musk CBS Interview Gets Awkward as He Refuses Questions On Trump Policies
An Elon Musk interview on CBS got off to a rocky start Sunday when correspondent David Pogue asked the Tesla boss about various policies of President Donald Trump’s.
In a taped sitdown for CBS Sunday Morning, Musk declined to engage about various political subjects — including tariffs and a ban on foreign students at Harvard.
“I noticed that all of your businesses involve a lot of components, a lot of parts,” Pogue said. “Do the tariffs and the trade wars affect any of this?
“You know, tariffs always affect things a little bit,” Musk replied awkwardly.
“Wondering what your thought is on the ban on foreign students — the proposal,” Pogue said. “I mean, you were one of those kids, right?”
Musk shut down the line of inquiry.
“Yeah, I mean, I think we want to stick to, you know, the subject of the day — which is, like spaceships, as opposed to presidential policy,”
“OK,” Pogue replied. “I was told anything’s good.”
“No,” Musk said, smiling. “Well … no.”
Eventually, Musk did play ball with Pogue — delivering criticism of the Trump-backed budget bill. Those comments were posted earlier in the week to promote Sunday’s full interview. The White House has largely avoided responded to Musk’s critiques.
