Elon Musk Donates $5M to Trump — Weeks After Claiming He’s Covering Up Epstein Files Because He’s In Them

Three weeks after claiming President Donald Trump is covering up the Jeffrey Epstein files because he’s in them, Elon Musk cut a $5 million check for the president.
According to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings, Musk gave $5 million to Trump’s Super PAC, MAGA Inc., on June 27. On June 5, Musk claimed Trump is “in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public.”
Musk soon walked back that claim, in an apparent effort to bury the hatchet with Trump. On June 7, the president — for his part — warned of “very serious consequences” for Musk if he followed through on a threat to try and defeat Republicans in Congress who supported Trump’s “Big, Beautiful” bill. (The Wall Street Journal later reported that Trump aides explored ending Musk’s contracts, but abandoned that effort when they learned the contracts were too vital.)
The Tesla boss did not follow through on his threat to challenge GOP incumbents — instead giving $5 million not only to Trump’s Super PAC, but to the Congressional Leadership Fund and the Senate Leadership Fund.
Musk, in early July, also said he planned to launch a new political party called the America Party. But the FEC filings reported on Friday did not offer any indication that he is following through on that — although those filings only include donations through June 30.
