Billionaire Elon Musk praised President Donald Trump on Tuesday evening, less than 24 hours after the president threatened to deport him and to cut his government subsidies.

“Credit where credit is due. @realDonaldTrump has successfully resolved several serious conflicts around the world,” Musk wrote on his social network X.

Musk attached an image of a Truth Social post that the president made on Tuesday, boasting, “My Representatives had a long and productive meeting with the Israelis today on Gaza. Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalize the 60 Day CEASEFIRE, during which time we will work with all parties to end the War. The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring Peace, will deliver this final proposal. I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Musk spoke out less than 24 hours after the president threatened to deport his former ally, who was born in South Africa.

Asked, “Are you going to deport Elon Musk?” Trump replied, “I don’t know. I mean, we’ll have to take a look. We might have to put DOGE on Elon. You know what DOGE is? DOGE is the monster that– it might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn’t that be terrible?”

Trump also threatened to cut the SpaceX CEO’s government contracts and subsidies, writing in a Truth Social post, “Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa. No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a FORTUNE. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!!!”

The public alliance between the two men broke down in May after Musk left his position as a special government employee and head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Musk railed against Trump in a series of social media posts, attacking the Trump-backed “Big Beautiful Bill” and accusing the president of being in the late child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s files.
