‘I Watched the Whole Thing and I Wasn’t Even Stoned’: View Hosts Gobsmacked by Fourth GOP Debate

ABC’s The View opened its Thursday episode with reactions to the fourth Republican presidential debate, but the panel of hosts could barely come up with anything to say as a response.

After a(nother) evening of watching the remaining GOP hopefuls duke it out on the debate stage, many had the same assessment: Vivek Ramaswamy is the worst, former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley took the high road, former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie got booed, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis lost, and none of them will be the next President of the United States.

The first segment of the show led with a montage of debate highlights, closing with Haley’s biting brush-off of an attack by her greatest nemesis Ramaswamy: “It’s not worth my time to respond to him.” The camera cut back to the hosts, who needed a minute to come up with something to say while the audience laughed. Co-host Whoopi Goldberg turned, wordlessly, to the resident Republican on the panel, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin:

Farah Griffin: Don’t ask me!

Goldberg: I was gonna, but you looked as shocked as everybody else. I don’t even know how to ask the questions! What did anybody do?

Joy Behar: Interesting that I watched the whole thing and I was not even stoned. It was so entertaining as usual. You know, sometimes you take a gummy to sleep, you know? And it’s a hilarious event at that point.

After composing themselves, they finally had some takes on the debate, including harsh words for the moderators who failed to check Ramaswamy on his blatant endorsement of the “racist, bigoted Great Replacement Theory,” but who also offended Behar as a comedian:

Farah Griffin: This man is contemptible. He’s a charlatan and he is a fraud, but he’s also dangerous.

Behar: Those are his good points!

Farah Griffin: Those are his good points! He went on television last night and started espousing the racist, bigoted, Great Replacement Theory and it wasn’t called out by any of the moderators.

Behar: He did a fat joke in the middle of a presidential debate. Okay? Leave that to the comedians.
