Jacqui Heinrich Cracks Up Fox Hosts By Mocking ‘Unfair’ Trump 1st Term Press Corps — Predicts ‘Tone’ Will Change Now

Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich cracked up the hosts of Fox & Friends by mocking “unfair” questions that reporters asked during President Donald Trump’s first term, and predicted a change in tone because that was “not a good business model.”

Trump had a uniquely contentious relationship with the press in his first term, routinely attacking reporters like Weijia Jiang of CBS, Kaitlan Collins of CNN, and Cecilia Vega of ABC News, April Ryan, PBS’ Yamiche Alcindor, and CNN’s Abby Phillip. He even lost a court battle when his administration tried to ban CNN’s Jim Acosta from the White House briefing room.

But on Tuesday’s edition of Fox & Friends, Heinrich contended that it was the press who were “oftentimes unfair” to Trump, and drew a big laugh with her summation of the questions the press asked in his first time:

LAWRENCE JONES: So, Jacqui, quick question and I don’t want to put you in a bad position because I know you’re on the (White House Correspondents’) Association as well.

Do you think it’s going to be different this time? Like tough questions are fair game, but do you think it’s going to be as nasty as it was during the first term, or do you think because of the access, because of, you know, the popular vote that the president won, that there’s going to be some grace, some give and take in the court?

JACQUI HEINRICH: You know, I think that four years ago, what sort of got baked into much of the media coverage was just this sort of formulaic approach where what journalists would do is just throw rocks at Trump.

Even the phrasing of questions oftentimes was unfair, loaded in a way, not neutral, not how how reporters are supposed to ask questions.

I talk about it casually with my friends like, it used to be you know, “Don’t you feel badly for being so horrible?”

That was sort of how they structured their questions, you know? (LAUGHTER) And–.

LAWRENCE JONES: So true. So true.

JACQUI HEINRICH: I think now it’s clear that, you know, the election results showed that that is not a good business model either. And I think that whether, you know, journalists themselves can can get there and, you know, of their own volition, I think probably we’re seeing a lot of shifts in legacy media at the corporate level. A lot of changes of the Guard and changes in tone.

So I do think that what’s going to be most fascinating for me to watch is how everyone adjusts to to this presidency, because it’s clear that the American people did reject the last one. And so it’s on everybody, to be fair, at all times, of course. And that includes asking tough questions, but in a neutral way.
