Jake Tapper Absolutely Buries ‘Sleazy’ and ‘Unethical’ Hunter Biden, Questions Why He Had So Much Power in the Family

Jake Tapper joined Katie Couric on her Next Question podcast on Tuesday, and at one point in the conversation, absolutely lit into Hunter Biden, calling him “sleazy” and “demonstrably unethical.”

“How big a factor was the Hunter stuff?” Couric asked Tapper, who was sitting alongside Alex Thompson, the co-author of their upcoming book, “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again.”

“I think it was considerable. I think Hunter was driving the decision-making for the family in a way that people– he was almost like a chief of staff of the family,” Tapper replied.

“Does that strike you as pretty bizarre?” Couric pressed.

“It’s bizarre because I think he is provably demonstrably unethical, sleazy, and prone to horrible decisions,” Tapper replied.

“Tell me how you really feel,” joked Couric in reply.

“Well, I mean, I just look at the record. I mean, after his brother died, he cheated on his wife with his brother’s widow and then got her addicted to crack. That’s just one thing I could say. I mean, I don’t have a lot of personal regard for him, and just based on having nothing to do with– I barely have ever met him. I’ve met him like once or twice. But I knew Beau. Beau was a great upstanding guy,” Tapper replied, referring to Beau Biden, Hunter’s brother, who died of cancer.

“I knew him too, really–” Couric replied, as Tapper agreed, “A real loss for the country, too, not just for his family, for the country, but Hunter’s not that. And the idea of letting him drive the family car, as it were, is just really, really questionable.”

Hunter Biden’s laptop, which was full of explicit materials regarding his drug use and sexual activity, became a lightning rod of controversy throughout his father’s presidency – as were his shady overseas deals in countries like Ukraine and China.
