Jim Acosta Calls Trump ‘A Danger to This Country’
Former CNN anchor Jim Acosta denounced President Donald Trump as “a danger to this country” during a forum in Washington on Tuesday.
Speaking on a panel hosted by the left-leaning Center for American Progress think tank, Acosta made clear his belief that the President of the United States is a threat to the homeland.
“I’ve been sort of trying to shout this from the rooftops or wherever anybody will listen to me,” Acosta said. “At the end of a bar in Kansas City, whatever. The President of the United States is a danger to this country. Full stop.”
The ex-CNN host likened Saturday’s military parade in Washington — held on Trump’s 79th birthday — to a North Korean-style totalitarian display and noted pushback from some Republicans about the event.
“Even people in the Republican Party were afraid to show up at his birthday parade, the dictator Kim Jong Un birthday parade that he tried to have over the weekend where you saw the video of the tank going by the empty stands and you heard the squeaking of the tracks of the tank,” Acosta said. “And it was sort of like, what is this?”
Acosta went on to say he took comfort, over the weekend, in images of soldiers who fought in World War II.
“There were some of these military veterans who had fought in World War II and said, ‘We defeated fascism the last time, I’m here to do it this time,'” Acosta said. “I don’t know if anybody saw those images, but they were very stirring images, I thought.”
