Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel took to Instagram to warn Americans against “angry finger-pointing” in the wake of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination, blasting his murder as “monstrous” and “senseless.”
Graphic video from the rally showed Kirk answering a question at a Utah Valley University event moments before a shot rang out, fatally striking him in the neck.
As widespread condemnation and tributes rolled out, the host of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! took to social media to share his response:
Instead of the angry finger-pointing, can we just for one day agree that it is horrible and monstrous to shoot another human? On behalf of my family, we send love to the Kirks and to all the children, parents and innocents who fall victim to senseless gun violence.

The Late Show host Stephen Colbert, on rival network CBS, opened his show by also warning Americans against political violence, recalling the 1960s, and offering his condolences to Kirk’s family.
Kirk, who co-founded Turning Point USA, a right-wing advocacy group that went on to back President Donald Trump during the 2024 election.
Trump responded on Truth Social: “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead… He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me.”
