Karoline Leavitt Reads Out Trump’s Bizarre Note to Jerome Powell: ‘You Should Lower the Rate — by a Lot!’
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt and her boss, President Donald Trump, shredded Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell Monday, with both sharing a scathing note demanding Powell lower interest rates — “by a lot!”
The letter, presented to reporters and read aloud by Leavitt during Monday’s White House press briefing, was written over a list of the lowest bank rates of world nations, where the U.S. ranks No. 35 with 4.5 percent.
The note reads:
Jerome —
You are, as usual “Too Late.” You have cost the USA a fortune — and continue to do so — you should lower the rate — by a lot! Hundreds of billions of dollars being lost! No inflation —
“The president is right, thanks to his policies, and we will continue to drive down the cost of living, continue to deregulate and also incredibly important that we pass this one big beautiful bill which is the largest tax cut in American history,” Leavitt added.

Just before the briefing began, Trump shared the same note to his Truth Social account.
“Should be here,” Trump wrote on the list near the top 6 countries, where the rate is as low as .25 percent and 1.75 percent.
Powell told lawmakers on Capitol Hill last week that he would have lowered interest rates if Trump’s bold tariff policy hadn’t sparked inflation fears.
