‘NO! MOST QUALIFIED!’ Crowd Jeers When Lara Trump Asked By Fan ‘Would Trump Pick a Woman’ For VP

Supporters jeered when former First Daughter-in-Law and senior campaign official Lara Trump was asked if former President Donald Trump “would pick a woman” to be his running mate.

Mrs. Trump is running to be co-chair of the Republican National Committee with the endorsement of her father-in-law, but wore her Trump campaign hat for an event with Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) in North Charleston ahead of Saturday’s pivotal South Carolina GOP primary.

After delivering some remarks, Lara took questions and posed for pictures.

One elderly woman took a selfie with Lara first, then asked if Trump would pick a woman for VP — and drew immediate jeers from the crowd as Ms. Trump asked what they thought.

She then answered that Trump — who is pushing for his daughter-in-law to run the RNC — will make his decision based on “merit”:

LARA TRUMP: Yes, ma’am!

WOMAN TRUMP FAN: (faintly) Do you think Donald Trump would pick a woman for vice president?

LARA TRUMP: Do I think Donald Trump would pick a woman for vice president? Let me hear from you guys! Who do you think he should pick?

CROWD MEMBER: NO!

CROWD MEMBER: MOST QUALIFIED!

CROWD: (jeers and grousing)

LARA TRUMP: What I can assure you is that Donald Trump does not care how you look. Donald Trump cares what you do. He will pick the best person possible for vice president. A person who he feels, like he said, I think last night in his town hall with Laura Ingraham. He said I would pick a person who I know is ready to become president, and is the right fit for this country. Should that person need to step in. No identity politics on this side of the aisle! Behind we go based on merit! We go based on (inaudible.

CROWD: (Cheers and applause)
