‘No Proof Whatsoever!’ Fox’s Dr. Marc Siegel Pours Cold Water On Tylenol-Autism Link Promoted By Trump and RFK Jr.

Fox News senior medical analyst Dr. Marc Siegel poured cold water on the idea there is a link between Tylenol and autism — which is being promoted by President Donald Trump and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Appearing Wednesday on Fox’s America Reports, Dr. Siegel made clear that while he advises reduced doses of acetaminophen for pregnant women, he believes the notion that a link between Tylenol and autism has been definitively established is a fallacy.

“Does acetaminophen during pregnancy cause autism?” Dr. Siegel said. “People out there need to know there’s absolutely no proof whatsoever that that’s the case. We distinguish between something called an association and something called proof for a cause and effect. It’s possible, due to some studies, that excess use of acetaminophen could lead to neurodevelopmental problems like autism, because the fetus — if you think about it — doesn’t have a fully developed liver. And that’s where the Tylenol goes. It goes to the liver to be metabolized … [that’s] a reason why I’m saying [pregnant women should] take less of it.

“But we’re far away from any proof here, and women who are pregnant need to get that fever down. That’s why I think the reaction has been excessive on the side of caution here. I’m glad we’re cautioning pregnant women, but seems to me too much caution has come out.”

This is not the first time recently where Siegel has taken issue with a position from the HHS secretary. Earlier this month, Siegel called out RFK Jr. following his testimony in front of a Senate committee about vaccines. Kennedy advocated for personal choice in getting vaccinated. Siegel argued community protection has been overlooked as a factor.

“If enough people opt out, you’re going to get more and more virus around and more and more people end up in the hospital,” Siegel told Mediaite founder and SiriusXM host Dan Abrams on Sept. 4. “The way this has been sold and politicized is to lose sight of the fact that there’s an issue of choice. That beyond an issue of choice, there’s an issue of community protection.”
