Puck Roasted by GOP Donor After It Falsely Reports He’s Married to Matt Gaetz’s Sister

Puck is under fire for a new report that allegedly makes several false claims about GOP donor Palmer Luckey, including that he is married to Rep. Matt Gaetz’s (R-FL) sister.

In a story published by reporter Teddy Schleifer, Puck claims that Donald Trump is set to attend a fundraiser hosted by Luckey, who Schleifer describes as “the oh-so-charming former Facebook V.R. executive who is enjoying his moment as the founder of Anduril, a defense contractor that specializes in A.I.-powered weapons.” The same article also allegedly originally stated that “Luckey, who’s married to Matt Gaetz’s sister, will host Trump on June 8 at his home in Newport Beach, according to the invite.”

It has since been amended to reflect that this is not the case after Luckey excoriated the outlet on X, formerly Twitter.

“It is crazy how bad @PuckNews is, people pay for this shit?” mused Luckey before quoting the aforementioned excerpt.

“I have never met Matt’s sister, much less married her. I am not hosting Trump at my home. I doubt the existence of an invite saying otherwise. Silicon Valley is 400 miles away,” continued Luckey. “My big league support for Donald Trump is no secret, and shouldn’t be a free pass to make shit up. Journalists will often claim they were just mistaken, but it is a matter of carefully selective incompetence – you almost never see major Democrat donors treated this way.”

While Luckey is not married to Gaetz’s sister, Gaetz is married to Luckey’s sister, Ginger. The article has since been amended to read “Luckey, who’s [sic] sister is married to Matt Gaetz, will host Trump on June 8 at his home in Newport Beach, according to the invite.”
