South Africa’s President Shoots Down Trump’s Genocide Claims in Oval Office: ‘I’m Sorry I Don’t Have a Plane to Give You’
President Donald Trump’s wild claims of a white genocide were slapped down by his South African counterpart in a contentious Oval Office meeting on Wednesday.
It all started when Trump told President Cyril Ramaphosa that white farmers are being killed and the killers are taking their land.
“Nothing happens to them,” Trump added.
“There is criminality in our country,” Ramaphosa admitted, but said, “People who do get killed, unfortunately, through criminal activity, are not only white people — the majority of them are Black people.”
“The farmers are not Black,” Trump said, cutting off Ramaphosa. “I’m not saying that’s good or bad, but the farmers are not Black. The people are being killed in large numbers, and you saw all of those gravesites.
Trump then turned to Peter Alexander — one of several attacks on the NBC newsman — saying the “fake news” won’t cover the so-called genocide in South Africa, deciding instead to focus on the “gift” of a Qatari 747 to the U.S. Air Force.
“I’m sorry I don’t have a plane to give you,” said the South African president as Trump said he would take it if he had.
Later, Ramaphosa invoked Nelson Mandela, telling Trump: “We were taught by Nelson Mandela that wherever there are coffins, people need to sit down around the table and talk about them.”
