An email from Trump-appointed acting federal prosecutor in Washington, Ed Martin, railing against an anonymous staff member who leaked an internal memo on Monday was, itself, leaked on Tuesday to CNN.

The initial leak was a memo by Martin ordering a review of how prosecutors handled January 6 cases, particularly those impacted by a Supreme Court ruling that found the DOJ had overstepped in its charging decisions.

On Tuesday Martin circulated a further email one day later, also leaked to CNN, blasting the leak as “personally insulting.”

Wow, what a disappointment to have my email yesterday to you all was leaked almost immediately. Again, personally insulting and professionally unacceptable. I guess I have learned my lesson (‘Fool me once…’).

In a further email yesterday, obtained and reported on by the network, Martin expressed his frustration at Ashley Akers, a former prosecutor involved in January 6 cases who resigned after President Donald Trump’s mass pardon. He ordered staff to comb through her records and emails, protesting that he had “never met her.”

Akers went on a media blitz Monday, tearing into Martin’s actions in appearances on CNN and MSNBC, to slam the new appointee for “advocating on behalf of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers” after he convinced a judge to lift their travel restrictions.
