Trump Gets Big Laugh in Oval Office Pointing Out Biden-Bashing Sticker on Wheelchair During Photo Op

The Oval Office erupted in laughter when President Donald Trump pointed out a guest’s adornment bashing former President Joe Biden with a coded message that Biden later co-opted during the 2024 presidential campaign.

Trump hosted a group of wounded veterans from The Independence Fund on Wednesday as he signed executive actions and held court with reporters in the Oval Office.

After remarks by Independence Fund CEO Sarah Veraro, Trump noticed something, and asked a wounded veteran named Alex about a sticker on his wheelchair:

SARAH VERARDO: So we’re excited for you bringing back the VA Accountability, Mission Act, Community Care, that were the hallmark of your first term, and we’re so excited sir to be here. We’re honored to be hear, and thank you for all you do for our nation’s heroes.

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Thank you. Who’s that picture on there?

SARAH VERARDO: (LAUGHS)

ALEX: That is Joe Biden, and it says, let’s go Brandon.

(LAUGHTER).

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: I’m saying, what was that picture?

SARAH VERARDO: I told him he wasn’t allowed to ask you to sign it.

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: That’s great. That’s very good. Well, thank you all very much. Would you like to say anything, fellas? There’s a big chance you have a lot of good people watching that believe in you. They happen to be the media, but they believe very much in you like I do.

ALEX: Mr. President, we’re just very happy with the energy that this administration is bringing. And it’s an administration that does what it promises. And so we’re behind you. We believe in and I think we all love you.

For the uninitiated, the “Let’s go Brandon!” trend originated when some NASCAR fans at Talladega chanted “Fuck Joe Biden” as race winner Brandon Brown gave a post-race interview, the reporter mistook the chant as a show of support for Brown.

That moment made “Let’s go Brandon!” a stand-in for the more profane version with opponents of President Joe Biden. But there’s an added dimension. Some conservatives believe that the reporter’s mistake was actually a deliberate and instantaneously-devised effort to cover up what the crowd was really chanting, and use the phrase as a double-edged critique of Biden and the media.

Biden’s campaign would later adopt “Dark Brandon” as a nickname to parody the insult.
