Trump Proposes Unlikely Alliance With Elizabeth Warren to ‘Prevent an Economic Catastrophe’

Elizabeth Warren Goes Off On Trump In Blistering DNC Speech — Finishes With Brutal Couch Reference

President Donald Trump proposed on Wednesday that he and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) — whom he frequently refers to as “Pocahontas” (a reference to her tenuous claim to Native American heritage) — form an unlikely alliance “to prevent an Economic catastrophe.”

Trump’s announcement came after Warren shared a video of Trump acknowledging Warren’s desire to get rid of the debt ceiling in the Oval Office and saying “he always agreed with her.”

“@realDonaldTrump and I agree: the debt limit should be scrapped to prevent an economic catastrophe. Let’s pass a bipartisan bill and get rid of it forever,” wrote Warren in her caption before adding that, ” jacking up the debt limit by $4 trillion to fund more tax breaks for billionaires is an outrage,” a reference to the GOP’s efforts to pass Trump’s “Big, Beautiful” reconciliation bill.

On Truth Social, Trump called for bipartisan action to do away with the debt ceiling entirely.

“I am very pleased to announce that, after all of these years, I agree with Senator Elizabeth Warren on SOMETHING,” declared the president. “The Debt Limit should be entirely scrapped to prevent an Economic catastrophe. It is too devastating to be put in the hands of political people that may want to use it despite the horrendous effect it could have on our Country and, indirectly, even the World.”

“As to Senator Warren’s second statement on the $4 Trillion Dollars, I like that also, but it would have to be done over a period of time, as short as possible. Let’s get together, Republican and Democrat, and DO THIS!” he concluded.

The olive branch marks a notable change in tone from Trump. During his speech before a joint session of Congress earlier this year, Trump whipped out the “Pocahontas” crack to mock Warren.

“I’m also working tirelessly to end the savage conflict in Ukraine. Millions of Ukrainians and Russians have been needlessly killed or wounded in this horrific and brutal conflict with no end in sight. The United States has sent hundreds of billions of dollars to support Ukraine’s defense, with no security, with no anything,” said Trump at the time, before remarking, “Do you want to keep it going for another five years? Yeah, you would say. Pocahontas says, ‘Yes.'”
