Trump Raves Over Speaker Mike Johnson in Big, Beautiful Bill Presser: ‘He’s a Man of God. So Am I, But…’

President Donald Trump heaped praise on House Speaker Mike Johnson Tuesday morning after traveling to Capitol Hill in hopes of pushing through his “Big, Beautiful” budget bill.

Trump and Johnson appeared alongside each other as they prepared to drum up support for the multi-trillion-dollar bill among Republican holdouts.

But before that meeting began, Trump turned to the speaker and gave him a glowing review.

“I’m his biggest fan,” Trump said. “I love this guy. He’s the only guy I could walk in with — think of it. You can’t be a guy like me and have a one majority. You have to be a guy like him. A nice person. He is very religious. He prays, he’s a man of God. So am I, but he is really to a new level. He is a great guy. They love him in Louisiana. They love him in — that’s the only kind of guy.”

The House Rules Committee will vote on the bill overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning. Republicans opposed to the bill reportedly include Thomas Massie (KY), Chip Roy (TX), and Ralph Norman (SC).
