Trump Vows to Arrest Zohran Mamdani if He Resists ICE as New York Mayor

President Donald Trump is threatening to arrest Zohran Mamdani — should Mamdani win the New York City mayor’s race and follow through on his pledge to kick ICE out of the Big Apple.

During a news conference in Florida on Tuesday, the president was asked how he would respond if Mamdani makes good on his vow to “kick the fascist ICE out of New York City.”

“Well, then we’ll have to arrest him,” Trump said — before repeating his claim that Mamdani is a Communist (which Mamdani has denied). “Look, we don’t need a communist in this country, but if we have one, I’m going to be watching over him very carefully on behalf of the nation.”

The president went on to question Mamdani’s U.S. citizenship — piggybacking off of a call last week from a Republican congressman to denaturalize and deport the New York City mayoral candidate.

“A lot of people are saying he’s here illegally,” Trump said of Mamdani — who was born in Uganda in 1991, moved to New York in 1998, and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2018.

Trump went on to shout out Mamdani’s opponent, incumbent Mayor Eric Adams.

“He still has a race to win,” Trump said of Mamdani. But so far, he’s winning. And he has an advantage as a Democrat in New York City. I was there a long time ago, and it was a long time since a Republican won the city. But you would think that a Republican would be able to win. You have a good independent running, Mayor Adams, who’s a very good person.”
