WATCH: Jim Jordan Claims Trump is Totally in the Clear On Epstein — Because Ghislaine Maxwell Said So
Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) is holding up Ghislaine Maxwell’s DOJ interview as confirmation that President Donald Trump “didn’t do anything wrong” as it relates to Jeffrey Epstein.
Appearing on The Big Weekend Show on Fox News Saturday, Jordan claimed Maxwell’s statements that Trump was “never inappropriate with anybody” show there’s “nothing there” pertaining to the president.
“This confirms what we all knew,” Jordan said. He added, “We knew President Trump didn’t do anything wrong here. He said that repeatedly. This transcript is the whole transcript and it confirms that. So I think there’s nothing there, it seems, based on what we got from the interview of Ms. Maxwell.”
In the DOJ interview conducted in July, Maxwell was unequivocal that she did not witness any inappropriate behavior from Trump and also downplayed the Trump-Epstein friendship — which she said was not a “close” one.
“I actually never saw the president in any type of massage setting,” Maxwell said. “I never witnessed the president in any inappropriate setting in any way. The president was never inappropriate with anybody. In the times that I was with him, he was a gentleman in all respects.”
Still, Maxwell — the longtime Epstein associate who is a convicted child sex trafficker serving 20 years in federal prison — hardly seems to be an unimpeachable witness. And her testimony about Trump, in particular, is further complicated by the fact that her lawyer has publicly angled for a pardon from the president.
“Everybody knows Ms. Maxwell would welcome any relief,” said Maxwell’s attorney, David Markus, last month.
