‘We Have a Lot of Law Firms We’re Going After’: Trump Declares Plan to Target Law Firms He Considers ‘Very, Very Dishonest’

Days after signing an executive order targeting a law firm which did work for Democrats during the 2016 campaign, President Donald Trump made clear there’s more where that came from.

In an interview on Sunday Morning Futures, Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo mentioned the order targeting the prominent firm of Perkins Coie. The order pulled security clearances for the firm’s lawyers, restricted their access to government buildings and officials, and required government agencies to cancel any contracts it has with the firm.

“The dishonest and dangerous activity of the law firm Perkins Coie LLP (“Perkins Coie”) has affected this country for decades,” the order stated. “Notably, in 2016 while representing failed Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, Perkins Coie hired Fusion GPS, which then manufactured a false ‘dossier’ designed to steal an election.”

In a statement (via The New York Times), Perkins Coie called the executive order “patently unlawful” and said, “we intend to challenge it.”

But if Trump’s comments Sunday are any indication, there are more orders coming.

“We have a lot of law firms that we’re going to be going after,” Trump said. “Because they were very dishonest people. They were very, very dishonest. They could go point, after point, after point. And it was so bad for our country. We have a lot of law firms that we’re going after.”
