‘Paid Me a Lotta Money!’ Trump Takes Victory Lap Over ’60 Minutes’ — In Part of Interview That Didn’t Air Live On ’60 Minutes’

One part of President Donald Trump’s 60 Minutes interview on Sunday that did not air live: The president gloating that CBS paid him millions of dollars to settle his lawsuit against the program for its editing of an interview with Kamala Harris last year.

Trump, during his Sunday interview with correspondent Norah O’Donnell, was mocking Harris, saying she “could not speak” and was not a “very intelligent person” when he pivoted to the lawsuit. He also complimented Bari Weiss, the new head of CBS News, and said he believed she will do a good job leading the news operation.

“And actually 60 Minutes paid me a lotta money. And you don’t have to put this on, because I don’t wanna embarrass you, and I’m sure you’re not — you have a great — I think you have a great, new leader, frankly, who’s the young woman that’s leading your whole enterprise is a great– from what I know,” Trump said.

He continued bashing 60 Minutes for the settlement:

60 Minutes was forced to pay me — a lot of money because they took [Harris’s] answer out that was so bad, it was election-changing, two nights before the election. And they put a new answer in. And they paid me a lot of money for that. You can’t have fake news. You’ve gotta have legit news.”

Paramount, the owner of CBS, paid Trump $16 million to settle the lawsuit he filed last year over a 60 Minutes interview with Harris leading into Election Day 2024.

The president claimed the interview was selectively edited and constituted “election interference,” and his lawyers said Trump suffered from “mental anguish” because of it. CBS, as O’Donnell noted on Sunday, did not admit any wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
