Ex-CNNer Alisyn Camerota Dishes On What She Saw at CNN During the Alleged Media ‘Cover Up’ of Biden’s Decline

Former CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota dished on her time covering former President Joe Biden at CNN as her ex-colleague Jake Tapper is releasing a book detailing Biden’s mental and physical decline in office.

On the Sanity podcast, hosted by Camerota and Dave Briggs, Camerota responded to allegations of a media “coverup” regarding Biden. According to Tapper’s book Original Sin, co-authored with Alex Thompson, officials in the Biden White House actively insulated the president amid concerns about his mental and physical state.

If there was a “coverup,” Camerota argued, it was out in the “open,” noting that CNN would often play Biden speeches live and she and her then-colleague Victor Blackwell would literally make a game out of how predictable Biden’s gaffes became.

She explained:

Jake is a good friend of mine, and I’ve not read the book yet, so I don’t want to talk about what’s in his book, because frankly, I don t know. However, this I do want to talk about and I know very well, I was on a show, the 2-4pm on CNN throughout, I think, 2021, 22, and part of 2023, and three times a week, I don’t think I’m exaggerating, we would take a Joe Biden live event. He would be doing a live event in front of some dilapidated bridge that the Infrastructure Act was going to help or et cetera. And we took it, start to finish. So if there was a cover up, it was happening out in the open in real time. This was live, meaning undiluted, unvarnished.

She argued these gaffes were out in the open and the media was not acting as the “gatekeepers” for the anything the then-president said.

“My co-host Victor and I would sometimes joke about it and play this bingo game because we would know that at some point during this talk, Biden would stammer, Biden would have word-finding difficulties, Biden would go off on a tangent many times, and Biden would tell an old story, okay? So that was on our bingo card. And we would make light of it because we listened to it so much,” Camerota continued.

“But this was different,” Briggs said.

“Well, my point is that it seemed to be a continuation,” Camerota responded.

She chalked up the Biden reporting as “interesting,” but not as “relevant” as the current president’s “decision making,” while Briggs argued the media has lost a lot of trust with the public.

“This is a real stain on the credibility of the media,” he said. “And two, a devastating stain on the Democratic Party because they can’t figure out how to come to terms with their role in covering this up and leading us to a second Trump administration.”
